got wet
only caught half of the hold steady set before the heat/beers/wetness caught up with me. I don't feel a need to say anything about hold steady, just ask your local williamsburg type if you don't know about em. Here are some photos:
//under the sixpoint beer tent making new friends as i'm trying to stay dry. homeboy with the lanyard around his neck actually asked me to take his hand truck and pick up two kegs from the beer truck on the other side of the venue - after he charged me $24 for four cups of beer.
//the loved ones staying dry on stage. me, not so much.
//giant slip n' slide (remember the original wet banana?)dude in the middle was chucked his son down it like he was a battered wife.
//W showed up with no joke 9 hot dogs for us...yea man!
//redbull girls from the bx - way mo better then the herds of willieburg sheep. blaastyoass and w drunk and wet - yo you good?

adieu
as it goes, back when clark closed his doors on blank monday, 5-dec-06 there was pandemonium in the board shaping racket. caro was strapped for material and pavel offered fourteen blanks to keep caro afloat. this board is one of the fourteen. the palm tree logo on the bottom of the board is used to certify that the board was shaped in pavel's shaping room - 'the green room.' pavel requires that boards shaped in the green room don the palm tree proudly. coupled with a first class glass job from moonlight, this board is not only shaped by a highly skilled craftsman, but also glassed for long lasting shredability by the industry leader -
caro went on to also explain that he does not often use a grey finish, esp. for n. californians. this is due to the fact that the board can easily be mistaken for a seal...

Big shout to the boys of Manasquan. Between slinging filet on their front porch, competitive bocce ball sessions at the beach and shouting out Bon Jovi at Bar-A, these dudes know how to stay cool. Aviators are optional, but solo cups of budlight are mandatory!!!
The only thing missing from that picture is Paulie Walnuts tanning up.
/// for you speed demons, manasquan has some serious surf:
- The Manasquan Inlet provides some of the East Coast's best surfing (sometimes over 15 foot swells) with waves being corralled, refracted and enlarged by the jetty protruding out into the Atlantic Ocean.

basted
what initially sparked my interest in the artist was his ability to set himself aside from the thousand other graffiti writers and so-called street artists. i have observed bast throw ups done with what appears to be simply a bucket of paint and a brush. the placement of his work is consistently interesting in the sense that the door that he paints on was already aesthetically pleasing or the wall that he pastes a flier on is part of a classic piece of architecture.
the subjects of bast also follow common themes: crime, pornography, corporate logos, international classifieds, firearms and as of late, hip hop. this held true tonight. it was not a surprise that much of his work moved so quickly this evening. banksy-run website picturesonwalls.com has been featuring the work of bast for a considerable amount of time and that's quite a hefty endorsement. whether it was driven on speculation or pure interest - it was a big night for bast and the brooklynite gallery.

green lantern
the other day i was piecing together some spreader bars for a canvas that i was working on and my staple gun had run dry. it was getting late and i really wanted to get moving on this piece that i was working on. i asked my dad if he had any extra staples laying around. he broke the news that i was shit outta luck. i rifled through his workshop and there she was - just as i had left her last. i popped the jar open, grabbed the canvas stretcher and got to work. no fancy staple guns, just a hammer and tack nails.
shortly after, the canvas was ready to go and it was time for the frame to be cut, assembled and painted. i decided to use black enamel on the molding and sealed it with acrylic gel medium for sheen. seen below is the final product. i had successfully used some more of my old man's building supplies - i'm sure i'll hear about this really soon -

Atlantic City Wind Farm at Dusk
Atlantic City - the name alone conjures up a lot. From benders with Burt Sugar at Irish Pub before an Arturo Gatti fight, to the time my cousin hit a royal flush on a fully loaded video poker machine 5 minutes after stepping into the borgata (1000:1 pay-out - we promptly left directly after!). From 4:00am Crown Royal fueled craps sessions at the marina with Kenny, to Bondland constructing the AC of tomorrow. From Donald trump in penthouses, to crackheads and hookers on pacific ave, i've seen a lot down there.
That said, Atlantic City has one of the last free beaches in New Jersey and an avid surf scene with a yearly competition:
Just a two hour drive outside of the Holland Tunnel w/out traffic (it goes by even quicker if your drinking wine from the bodega out of paper cups in the back seat), AC can be a real debaucherious break from the city.

gyre
I just found out about this "great pacific garbage patch" or "garbage vortex" if you will. Apparently its the size of the continental united states, and its floating in the pacific ocean around Hawaii. Its made up mostly of those plastic shopping bags your bootleg gucci bag came in from canal street or from the grocery store.
ironman's solution: grow it larger, build mcmansions on it, and call it staten island west...
seriously tho, hows this affecting speed demons out west?
